Extrinsic mechanisms of the Tau protein and its pathology

The future project of the TREND team is based on our original results and our know-how, and remains focused on the fundamental mechanisms leading to the pathogenicity of the Tau protein in Alzheimer's disease and tauopathies, extending to more integrative approaches to better understand the neuro-glial processes that link Tau protein to synaptic dysfunctions.

Projects will be based on our most original results in two main areas.

  1. In a first area, we will develop projects that focus on the intrinsic mechanisms of function, toxicity and propagation of the Tau protein in cells.
  2. In the second axis, we will focus on extrinsic environmental factors that modulate Tau protein pathology/toxicity, including impacts on neuro-glial interactions, synapses and memory.

These projects will rely not only on recently developed methodologies, but also on others to come. Based on these fundamental and preclinical approaches, we will propose new innovative diagnostic and therapeutic strategies thanks to the close interaction between the scientists and clinicians of the team, the Lille Neuroscience & Cognition Research Center and interactions with the University Hospital. from Lille.
